SVR Women’s Group
Thanks to Jean Bauserman, Ruth Riemenschneider, Kathy Smart, and Nancy Specht, for more than 25 years, a group of SVR women have been meeting to run or walk and eat together. Sound fun? It is! Generally, here’s the deal: Every other Tuesday night (6:30 p.m.) from May to October, women host runs and dinners at their homes in Winchester, Frederick County, Clarke County, Warren County, and beyond, including Woodstock. Women either host alone or join forces with others to provide a neighborhood course (3-5 miles) and a meal to those who are able to attend (there’s an email RSVP system). Generally, about 15 women show each time, maybe more, maybe less. Not only is it fun to unwind after a day of work by exercising together, it’s even more fun to socialize and eat together. Some of the best recipes in the area have been swapped, thanks to this group! In addition to the Tuesday night gatherings, the group often congregates for a winter holiday run/walk, potluck brunch, and thieves’ gift exchange.
Although many women are active in the group and participate regularly, some women join in when their schedules permit. You’re not obligated to host or co-host a dinner, especially when you’re new, but in time, you may want to. And, please, don’t be intimidated; this group suits all styles of runners and walkers – slow, fast, and every level in between. All are welcome!
If you’d like to be included on this SVR women’s email list, please send your email address to Ann Robb: firstname.lastname@example.org, and she’ll add you.
We look forward to meeting you!
