COVID-19 UPDATE: We have moved the race to Saturday July 25th. Please note that are making many changes to the race in order to comply with current COVID regulations. We are doing everything we can to insure a safe event — however, if you feel uncomfortable in a ‘live’ event of this size, or have any COVID symptoms, please do not attend. You can elect to receive a refund in that case (see below).
NEW FORMAT: The race will now be run in waves of approximately 50 runners each. The Top 50 men will run first at 9:00, followed by the Top 50 women. The 3rd wave will be the next fastest times, men and women combined, followed by random heats of approximately 50 people. This will allow families to run together. See full schedule below.
There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION! You must enter the race by 6:00 on Friday July 24th in order to compete. This will allow us time to organize the waves.
Tee shirts only to the first 150 registrants who wish to purchase one. Those who registered prior to July 1st will receive a shirt if requested.
There will be NO Awards ceremony or food table at the conclusion of the race. We kindly ask that as you finish the race, proceed down Loudoun Street and do not loiter on the north end of the mall. There will be bottled water available but it is imperative that you leave the area promptly. Awards and prize money will be mailed or available for pickup the week after the race.
We will not have race packets, only bib numbers and shirts (if purchased). If at all possible, please pick up your bib (and shirt) at Runners’ Retreat starting on Mon. July 20th. If you register on-line, allow 24 hours to pick-up your bib. On race day, we will begin pick-up AT THE STORE at 6:30AM. Please adhere to social distancing standards — we will have marks on the mall to help maintain a safe distance between participants. Families may stay together. Allow enough time to arrive at the starting line. If you miss your wave, move to the last wave in the line. You will still receive an accurate time.
Your bib number will indicate your wave. The letter preceding the number will be your wave. For example, if your number is E1234 you will be in Wave E. Please try to run in your assigned wave. Families will be placed together in the same wave unless a member is qualified to run in one of the fast heats.
When you arrive at the start area, line up with your wave and try to maintain a safe distance with other runners. Please do not intermingle in other waves. The A-wave will line up on the starting line and other waves will be staggered south on Loudoun Street and along Commerce Ave. As one wave begins the remaining waves will move up closer to the starting line.
There will only be bottled water at the starting line. Porta-potties will be available but please be cognizant of social distancing guidelines.

8:30 — FITNESS WALK (untimed)
9:00 — WAVE A: FAST MEN (SUB 5:00 OR TOP 50) ==> this will include the CRA men’s championship
9:10 — WAVE B: FAST WOMEN (SUB 7:00 OR TOP 50) ==> this will include the CRA women’s championship
9:20 — WAVE C: MEN AND WOMEN (5:00-7:30 OR NEXT 50)
9:30 — WAVE D
9:40 — WAVE E
9:50 — WAVE F
10:00 — WAVE G
10:10 — WAVE H
We will have as many waves as necessary to accommodate all runners. If you are not seeded in one of the top 3 waves you will be placed in the next available wave based on registration date. The earlier you sign up the sooner you will run.

Events are rather dynamic at this time but we will do everything in our power to have a successful event. We also hope that we will not have to move the race date again.
