after six races |
At the end of the series, age group awards will be given to the top two runners in each division (provided that they are not in the top five overall). Runners must finish at least five races and be SVR members by 1 March 2003 to be eligible for the age group awards. Names of SVR members below appear in purple. As with the overall awards, each runner's six best point totals will count towards their final score, so with two races left at the moment, we're sorting the standings by six races minus two-- or each runner's best four scores (indicated in the "best4" column). Check out the men's standings page for an overall view of the standings. Tip: If you are using the right Web browser, you can hover your mouse over the column headings below ("WS1", "WS2", etc.) to see the name and date of the race in question. |

| Male 13 & Under |
|
| It's official: Russell Lockhart and Nathan Tomberlin have clinched the two awards in the male 13 & under age group! Who gets which of the two awards is still in question, mind you, with Russell currently holding a seven point edge over the slowly-gaining Nathan. But hey, the only thing at stake now is two inches' worth of trophy height, so it's no big deal. So congratulations to the two 13-year-olds! |
| Ineligible: Brett Lewin, Jake Lewin |
| Male 14-16 |
| Nobody's left in this age group-- they've all been mathematically eliminated. Bummer! |
| Ineligible: Matt Reges, Roy McKenzie, James Printz, Robert Verdecchia, Cory Gillespie |
| Male 17-19 |
|
| New club member Robbie Olsen fell from the top five overall with his absence at the Lincoln race, but he could still take home first place in this age group if he doesn't miss another race. |
| Ineligible: Ryan Hunt, Dan Nally, Brian Markley, Dustin Sweeney, Kendal Hudson, Brad Allmendinger, James Culver |
| Male 20-29 |
|
| Chuckles is turnin' on the juice! Yes, Charles Bowles may have missed the first two races, but he's quickly making up for it. Currently loitering outside of the top five overall, he's holding first place in the 20-29 age group but could move up depending on what takes place in front of him. Jonathan Whitehead (who ran the Lincoln race half an hour early and was given no points for that race) trails Chuckles by 69 points, but leads new SVR member David Lockhart by thirteen. David could gain some ground while Jonathan sits out the Predicted Time 4 Miler as race director, but both will benefit if Chuckles sidles up into the top five overall. |
| Ineligible: Kenny Campbell, Karsten Brown |
| Male 30-39 |
|
| Hmm, let's see what we've got here. Brad Rippey, Mark Vann, and Alan Thatcher are still in the top five overall, and the former two have solid footing up there. Thatcher needs to join the club and not miss another race if he wants to win an award. David Black and Steven Viers are left with the two age group award slots, but Steven will drop from the running if he misses one more race. That would open things up for the current third place runner, Jose Zambonino, although like Alan, Jose will have to join the club in order to win an award. If he doesn't join, and if Steven misses a race, then Stewart Lockhart could be in contention for second place. Yikes, my brain hurts! |
| Ineligible: Mike Capraro, Peter Mattens, Patrick Farris, Chris Northrup, Tom Clark, Phil Skuta, Paul Hyde, Bill Lipps, Phil Griffin, Jon Duvall |
| Male 40-49 |
|
| Rumor has it that Neal Riemenschneider will miss the Predicted Time 4 Miler, but he's still likely to remain in the top five overall. So Mike Meadows has moved ahead of Kennon Yeck into the age group lead. Mike, however, will fall out of the lead if he misses one more race, which would open things up for SVR president Rick Kerby. And trailing Rick by a mere seven points is the always-solid Myron Kremer. It's too close to call at this point, folks! |
| Ineligible: Mark Stickley, Denny Myers, Joel McKenzie, Tom Aldstadt, Ed Schrank, Tony Devereux, Gil Crumrine, Jonathan Bellingham, Robert Decker Jr., Keith Baker, Mike Casey, Thomas Robb, Ron Carden, Larry Heishman, Dan Goggins, Jim Rohr, Jim Allmendinger, Chris Quasebarth, Doug Lewis, Tim Lettie |
| Male 50-59 |
|
| Ron Greene has left the age group! A good performance at Lincoln has pushed Ron up into the top five overall, giving the age group lead to 58-year-old Jason Page. Jason has picked up a few extra points over current runner-up Randy Wingfield, and he could clinch an award if he runs one more race. Jon Palks has gained ground too and now trails Randy by nine points-- but he can't miss another race if he wants to challenge for second place. (A missed race by Palksy and two missed races by either Jason or Randy would pave the way for Ed Grainger to win an award, although the odds are not in Ed's favor at this point, alas!) |
| Ineligible: Patrick Griffith, Ric Leobold, Bill Senseney, James Moreland, Howard Campbell, Imants Celtnieks, Ed Mayhew, Doug Fanning, Buzz Shiely, Dan Nally, Nosmo King |
| Male 60-69 |
|
| 68-year-old Bob Gurtler has taken the lead! Both Bob and Bill Melson have moved up following the Lincoln race, although neither Bill nor Terry McCarthy were there. Terry now trails Bill by just two points, and if he doesn't miss another race, he could easily pull back into second, regardless of whether or not Bill attends either race. But if Terry misses one more, then Bill could clinch the second place award by showing up at one more. |
| Male 70 & Over |
|
| Bob Atkins is the only eligible runner left in the 70 & over age group, but he'll have to run the remaining races in order to win an award! |
| Ineligible: Robie Cone, Lowell Owsley, Jim Dogger |
