Winter Series 2002-2003
About the SVR Winter Series
Current women's standings: overall, age groups
Current men's standings: overall, age groups

Two races left, and Brad Rippey maintains his hold on the men's lead! Rippey gained some ground on current runner-up Mark Vann at the Lincoln Valentine's 3.4 Miler. Closing in on Mark is Alan Thatcher, whose impressive performance at Lincoln vaulted him from fifth to third in the standings. Thatcher, however, will have to both join our club and run the final two races if he wants to win an award (since only SVR members are eligible to receive awards). Neal Riemenschneider stays in fourth, and with Robbie Olsen falling from the top five, 52-year-old Ron Greene moves up to fifth place. Charles Bowles had a great finish at Lincoln and waits patiently just outside of the top five.

Poor weather affected the turnout at the Lincoln race, dropping the men's 100% participation rolls to six. This is ten fewer perfect attendees than we had after six races in last year's series, but we're up one runner from this point in the '00-'01 series. The current group: Vann, Riemenschneider, Greene, David Black, Stewart Lockhart, and Jonathan Whitehead. Will we get to give prizes to all six by the end of the series?

Names of SVR members in the standings below appear in purple, and names of runners with perfect attendance appear in bold. The standings have been sorted by each runner's four best point scores (shown in the "best4" column). This gives a more realistic view of the standings than if we sorted the results by each runner's total points. You see, at the end of the series, we'll be dropping each runner's two lowest point scores if they've run every race, and we'll be dropping the one lowest score for runners who run seven of the eight races. (In other words, each runner's six best point scores will count at the end.) Series awards will be given to the top five SVR members overall, to the top two SVR members in various age groups, and to the SVR members with perfect attendance. See the men's age groups page for the age group standings, and see the main Winter Series page for more about the points & awards.
