Fun Run for Children under Age 10
Since 2002, the Potomac Valley Audubon Society (PVAS) has held an annual running event, This Race Is For The Birds! Held in the spring, the event is at Broomgrass Farm outside Gerrardstown, WV and features a number of different mileage events.
Proceeds from the race support our programs, including in-school visits and outdoor explorations at our nature preserves, Audubon Discovery Day Camp, and a wide variety of educational natural history programs for adults.
Schedule:
7:30-8:45 am Registration & Number Pick Up
9:00 am Start 5K & 10K Trail Races and 5K Jog/Walk (after trail races begin)
10:45 am Start Fun Run for Children under Age 10
Race registration begins January 15. You can register now and find more information on the race website at www.raceforthebirds.org. The 10K and 5K Trail Races are limited to the first 400 registrants, so race day registrations are not always available. Fees are as follows:
Pre-Registration fees (postmarked by 3/31):
5K Race: $25
5K Jog/Walk: $25
10K Race: $30
Kids Fun Run: FREE
All adult pre-registrations are guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt.
Race Day Fees ($5 per race more):
5K Race: $30
5K Jog/Walk: $25
10K Race: $35
Kids Fun Run: FREE
Adult race day registrations may receive a t-shirt if supplies allow.
Multi-child discount: $5 off for 2nd & each additional child under 18. All proceeds are used to support Potomac Valley Audubon’s programs, and all fees are tax deductible.
This event would not be possible without the help of volunteers! We need folks to help set up, help with race day registrations and t-shirts, serve as course monitors, serve refreshments, clean up, and encourage the participants. Please contact race4birds@potomacaudubon.org.
