SHENANDOAH VALLEY RUNNERS AGE GROUP RUNNER OF THE YEAR AWARD

  1. Recipient must be an active running member of the club from July 1st of that calendar year.
  2. SVR Member must run at least 6 SVR sponsored races. Two of the six races can be Winter Series races.  Six SVR sponsored races (without Winter Series participation) also qualifies you for the award.
    1. See examples below:
      1. 4 SVR Races/2 Winter Series Races – Member qualifies
      2. 6 SVR Races/0 Winter Series Races – Member qualifies
  • 3 SVR Races/3 Winter Series Races – Member does not qualify
  1. Recipient may win an age group award more than one (1) year in a row if there are no other eligible worthy recipients.
  2. One award will be presented in each of the following age groups if there are worthy candidates: MALE & FEMALE: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80 & over.
  3. Race results will be submitted to the appointed committee by the club statistician no later than January 15th.
  4. A committee chaired by the SVR club president or vice president and will determine the recipient of these awards. Other members of the committee consist of the statistician, and at least two (2) senior members appointed by the president or vice president. (award committee will be determined during the January meeting) A simple majority vote of three (3) would be needed to select each winner.
  5. The committee will review: number of races participated in (particularly SVR races), improvement and overall and age group placement. The committee will decide any other discrepancies.
  6. An award may not be given in an age group if there is no qualified recipient.
  7. Decisions of the committee will be final.
  8. The committee will submit the list of winners in time for awards to be made up for the annual banquet.
  9. The committee will notify award winners and encourage them to attend the banquet to receive their award.
  10. Award winners will receive small (i.e. 5 X 7) plaques.
