Festival of Leaves 5k website Click here for the registration form fol5k14 Saturday 11 October 2014 at Skyline High School in Front Royal,Virginia. The 5K starts at 8:00 AM, with registration taking place from 7:00 to 7:50 AM in the school cafeteria. Our wheel-measured 5 kilometer (3.107 mile) route heads out the schools back entrance to Criser Road and follows a rolling loop on Luray Avenue, West Main Street, and Kerfoot Avenue before returning on Criser Road to the school. The course will be open to vehicular traffic. Participants should run on the left unless other- wise instructed. For safety and insurance reasons, participants may not run the race with headphones, baby strollers, or dogs.
Medals for the top three overall males & females. Ribbons for the top three males & females in the following age groups: 14 & un- der, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55- 59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Well also hand out some random prizes!
The 5K costs $5 prior to race day or $10 on race day. Members of the Warren Heritage Society (the race’s beneficiary) or the Shenandoah Valley Runners may take a $1 discount. For more race details, visit our Web site at: http://user.shentel.net/karsten/fol5k/ Skyline High School is located at 151 Skyline Vista Drive, off of Route 340 just south of Front Royal. Registration will take place inside the cafeteria, on the front side of the school. From the north and west: Take I-66 to exit 6 (Routes 340/522) and head south toward Front Royal. 1.8 miles from the exit, turn left at a light to stay on Routes 340/522. 340 & 522 split at the next stoplight in 0.6 miles; go straight through this light (right lane only) to continue south on Route 340 for two more miles. After passing the entrance to Skyline Drive, turn right at the next stoplight onto Skyline Vista Drive. From the east: Take I-66 west to exit 13 (Rt. 55/Linden) and turn left at the end of the exit ramp. In 0.2 miles, turn right on Route 55 west toward Front Royal. In 5.2 miles, turn left onto Route 340. Follow Route 340 south for 0.8 miles, passing the entrance to Skyline Drive, then turn right at a stoplight onto Skyline Vista Drive. From Luray & the Page Valley: Follow Rt. 340 north toward Front Royal. 0.7 miles past Skyline Caverns, turn left at a stoplight on Skyline Vista Drive.
After the race is over, head up to East Main Street for the 44th annual Festival of Leaves! The festival lasts all day and features a parade at 10 AM, historical displays, arts & craft vendors, live entertainment, a children’s area, tours of historic homes, living history interpretations, food concessions, and more.
